Self-hosting
TimeWren runs as a small Docker Compose stack: the web app, PostgreSQL and a cron container for scheduled jobs. A self-hosted instance has every feature, and analytics and error reporting stay off until you configure them.
Requirements
- Docker Engine with Compose v2.24 or newer
- 2 vCPU and 2 GB of RAM to run it, 4 GB or more to build the image
- 10 GB of free disk
- A domain and a reverse proxy with TLS, unless you only try it on localhost
Quick start
git clone https://github.com/timewren/timewren.git
cd timewren
./scripts/install.shThe script checks Docker, writes fresh secrets to .env, builds and starts the stack. It never uses sudo and never prints the secrets.
Open the app and create an account. The first account becomes the instance admin. Migrations run by themselves on every start.
The full guide
The guide lives next to the code, so it matches the version you run.
